Beyond the Couch
This week I have been thinking about life beyond the couch(or chair.) What do we psychodynamic/relationship type therapists do in addition to therapy. One thing we do is teach. This may be at the seminary, graduate school or college level, or it may be classes and seminars offered to the general public. I personally enjoy teaching. Over the years I have honed it down to a few subject areas that I like to teach the most. These are: What is psychoanalytic/ neuropsychoanalytic psychotherapy and How to you Do it? How can I become a Pastoral Care Specialist? What does Neuroscience have to do with Talk Therapy? Where does Evolution fit into Counseling? What is the History of Pastoral Counseling? What is the History of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy? .... I am not presently teaching these in formal classes but I am teaching them informally through writing, supervising and consulting. Maybe you would like to dialogue with me about any of these. If so email me at calanmeltonw@gmail.com
