Psychoanalytic Diagnosis: An Adendum
This diagnostic manual helps your therapist diagnose your personality--who you are , how you came to be that way, what significant experiences of your childhood affected you, and how these unfortunate childhood experiences and how you reacted to them are affecting you today. Take the Major Depressive Disorder symptoms for instance. The psychotherapist knows that depression symptoms are related to loss, not only present losses of friends, partners, parents, jobs, status etc., but also the earlier losses of childhood such as moving, divorce, death of a parent, etc. Any time a child experiences deep loss or abandonment the likely outcome is symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder.
