Applied Psychoanalysis: Beyond the Couch
This week I have been thinking about life beyond the couch (or chair.) What do we psychodynamic type therapists do in addition to therapy. One thing we do is teach. This may be at the seminary, graduate school or college level, or it may be classes and seminars offered to the general public. I personally enjoy the one on one teaching in supervision and consultation. Over the years I have noticed that I gravitate to a few subject areas that I like to teach the most. These are: What is psychoanalytic/ neuropsychoanalytic psychotherapy and How to you Do it? What does Neuroscience have to do with Talk Therapy? Where does Evolution fit into Counseling? What is the History of Pastoral Analytic Psychotherapy? What is the History of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy? .... Not only do I enjoy teaching these in consultation and supervision, I further enjoy teaching them here on my Blog. Maybe you would like to dialogue with me about any of these. If so email me at calanmeltonw@gmail.com
