Tour of Freud Museum

Visit to Sigmund Freud Museum........ I believe I mentioned in an earlier post that my wife and I traveled to Vienna Austria to visit the Sigmund Freud Museum( see pic below.) The museum is housed in what was the Freud Family apartment which included his office where he saw patients. It was quite a thrill to be in the very place where psychoanalysis was first created and practiced starting around 1900. Psychoanalysis was the first psychotherapy which was based in science. It was also the first psychotherapy to take the unconscious mind into consideration. Theologians, philosophers, poets and artists had spoken in various ways about the unconscious, but Freud was the first to develop a science based method of therapy to explore it. This was psychoanalysis!
