In this post I am sharing my DRUMMOND FAMILY History. I have shared my MELTON family history in two previous posts. How the MELTON's came from England to America. MY MOTHER's side of the family was Drummond. THEY CAME FROM Scotland to America. THE Drummonds hailed from PERTSHIRE Scotland. The earliest Scot Drummond I know about was John Drummond born January 1, 1640 in Scotland. He was narried to Beatrix Gainer June 2, 1659 and he died in Scotland. His son was David Drummond born October 1, 1666 in Sterling , Perth, Scotland. He married Isobel Thomeson in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland. She was born May 27, 1675 and died in Perthshire, Scotland. His son was James Drummond, born May 13, 1705 in Inverkeithling, Fife, Scotland, and died 1763 in Dumferline Fife, Scotland. He was married to Margaret Morrison, born January 1, 1708 also in Dumferline, Fife, Scotland. His son was Daniel Drummond, born November 27, 1738 and died May 4, 1792 in Scotland. He was married to Janet Clark born 1740 in Scotland. They were married August 5, 1763. His son was also named Daniel Drummond, born in 1770 and died March 6, 1849. ( I am not sure if he was in Scotland or Ireland.) He was married to Sarah Denniston of Antrim, North Ireland. She died August 2, 1849 in Polk, GA. His son was John Jack Drummond who was born in DUBLIN IRELAND in 1803 and died in 1879. He was married to Minerva E. Burns was was born in SC in 1806 in Cherokee County, and died in 1885. His son was James Bures DRUMMOND. James was married to Safroni Henslee who was born March 2, 1843 and died May 29, 1920. HIS SON WAS THOMAS MARION DRUMMOND who was my MOTHER's FATHER. He was born in 1878 and died in 1954 at age 75 in Cherokee County Ga. HIS WIFE , my Mother's mother, was Othalia Susanna DUNAGAN. THEIR DAUGHTER WAS MY MOTHER, Mildred Estelle Drummond born May 18, 1920 and died May 16, 2002. HER HUSBAND, my Father was Ira Baily Melton. I am Charles Alan Melton their 4th child.
